About The Course
This course focuses on the scientific aspect of the language i.e., precisely the Vyākaraṇa of the language. Key highlights include: ● Overview in general about all languages and respective grammatical aspects of the same ● Deep-dive into “Aṣṭādhyāyī” of Pāṇini ● Different terminologies associated with Pāṇini’s treatise ● 'Prakriyā’ (methodology) given in Aṣṭādhyāyī for the etymology of words

- Learning Objectives
- ● Gain understanding of Aṣṭādhyāyī of Pāṇini i.e., the fundamentals of Vyākaraṇa Śāstra
- ● Imbibe the attitude of a ‘Vaiyākaraṇa’ or Grammarian in the approach to study the language
- Intended Outcomes
- At the end of the course the student will get to know about
- ● Basic understanding of linguistics approach to the language
- ● Creating and understanding syntax, morphology of given words (i.e., the scientific approach to move up to pragmatic meaning)
- ● Ability to find and understand the etymology and precise meaning of the given word
- ● Understanding the fundamentals of Aṣṭādhyāyī of Pāṇini
- ● Knowing the concept of aphorism and aphoristic function
- ● Ability to extract meaning of aphorisms of Aṣṭādhyāyī by looking at declension used in aphorism.
