About The Course
This curriculum provides a detailed overview of the Indian traditional textile traditions. It explores the diversity of traditional textile products of different parts of the country produces by varied artisans. The methods, design patterns, threads, instruments used, style of weaving are well described in this course. The cultural perspectives of design patterns in different traditional textiles is described through case studies. Different module of this course is linked with the concept of sustainable development and endogenous development with respect to Indian textiles.

- This is meant to be an elective course, which can taken by the UG students of different subjects
- Intended Outcomes
- • To detailing different traditional textiles from vary corners of the country so that students can get knowledge regarding the rich history and heritage of textile traditions of India.
- • To provide knowledge about different design patterns and styles of weaving, by which students can be benefited with rich knowledge of Indian textile industry.
- • To enable the students about cultural diversities of Indian textile industry which groom the current generation towards ‘beauty lies with diversity’ rather than mass consumerism for ‘one-size-fit-for all’.
- • To enrich the Indian students towards cultural sustainability through symbolic values of different design patterns and thus creating Indianness by which cultural sustainability can be achieved.
